About Us

Originals by Cheryl & Deanna

We have been friends for over 25 years. Our love for art goes back to High School when we had many art classes together. We took painting, sculpting, photography, and ceramic classes. There were a lot of happy memories.

We were destined to be sister in-laws. In high school we dated brothers for a while and then moved on to marry a different set of brothers. These we decided to keep. We are also fortunate to be next door neighbors.

Cheryl has one child, a boy. Deanna has three children (two girls and a boy).  Our children consider the other's home a second home.

Living so close to each other works out great for us. We each do our own dolls, but we often ask each other for advice or help on a project. So we spend a lot of time together. One of our favorite things to do is shop for our Santa's. We love to go to the flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores. We have a good friend who has nick-named us Dumpster Divers!

We travel together to different trade shows across California. We have a lot of fun doing this.  Each year we get to attend a week long convention. It usually takes place somewhere in the U.S. They offer many classes with well known doll artists teaching them. We are also able to compete with artists from around the world. We have both received first place awards for our dolls. Several of the dolls also have competed in Southern California competitions, taking 2nd. One doll took a 1st place and Best of Show at the California State Fair.

Our love for making Santa's all started with a picture we saw in a magazine. We fell in love with it, and knew we could make one just like it! So we went to the craft store and bought a Santa head and all the things we thought we needed. Then we decided that we would try sculpting the head out of clay. When we were finished we had so many people compliment them, that we just couldn't stop from making more. And here we are today still making them, and still loving it.

We love our dolls and very much enjoy making each one. When we finish a doll we like to bring them into our homes, so we can enjoy them before they go out to a show and get sold. We hope you will enjoy our dolls as much as we do.
