About
the artist
My Santa business began over 12 years ago. I use
to sell my Santa's at different shows. I would attend about six shows a
year. I now sell my Santa's from my website as well as stores across the
country.
I have been married to my husband, John, for 29 years. We have three children, two girls, Jessica and Katie, and a boy, David.
We live in Newcastle, California, a rural community in the Sierra foothills.
My love for making Santa's all started with a
picture on a magazine cover. I fell in love with this beautiful Santa. There
was also a wonderful article on how to make your own Santa. I went to the craft store and bought a
ceramic Santa head and all the
things I thought I needed. After reading the article in the magazine many
times over, I
decided that I would try sculpting my head out of polymer clay just like the
one on the cover of the magazine. It took me about 20 hours before his
head was finally finished. I had a lot of fun, but I never thought it
would take me so long. When I finally completed the whole Santa, my friends
and family all wanted one. I loved making my first Santa so much that
I started making more. I gave them away to friends and
family. I attended every sculpting class as well as any doll making classes
that I could find. I even travelled to different states to learn the art of
sculpting. After several years it grew into a business.
I still love making Santa's after all of these
years. Each one takes on a
personality as I am sculpting him. I love picking a name to fit that
personality. It is also fun to create the perfect outfit as well as the
accessories. There have been so many Gift Givers from around the world. It has
been very rewarding researching these traditions. Some date back to the time of Christ. There is a lot of fulfillment for me in
every Santa that I create.
I hope you enjoy my Santa's as much as I do!
